How can I setup a rule in Smart Security 3.0 which will allow incoming ping requests I make from a telnet connection back to my local IP address assigned by my ISP?

I think ICMP is the right protocol but after setting up a rule for my telnet application and then doing a ping from it, I see in my ESET log file that the ping request is denied.

    Thanks!

In case anyone is following the thread, I figured this out.

I was thinking that I need to setup a rule for the telnet application but after further though I realized that the incoming ping request is not coming in through the telnet application, rather it is just coming into my system via my internet connection (for lack of a better way to put it).

So. I added a rule which allows incoming ICMP requests from an IP address range which covers the IPs of the hosts I telnet to.
