Because of Xmarks/Lastpass I LOST ALL MY PASSWORDS/USERNAMES!

I totally forgot about the password phase out and reinstalled Windows 7 64 bit. I reinstalled Xmarks and NOW I CAN'T GET MY ****ING PASSWORDS AT ALL BECAUSE ITS NOT AVAILABLE!!!!! Is there ANYWAY I can get them back or do I have to hit forgot password on EVERY SINGLE PAGE

Yes I saw that sadly AFTER I set up Lastpass and wiped out my passwords. Luckily I was able to get them all back through memory. Have them in Last now.

Xmarks doesn't handle passwords/usernames anymore just bookmarks.

 

I'm sorry this happened to you. It is a MAJOR problem, I'm sure. Good luck on recovering (somehow).

Moral of this tragedy: ALWAYS back-up key files

 

I don't want to annoy a person in your state, but this is a reminder that you must always have backups and alternative methods to restore critical data, including passwords. It is not related to xmarks/lastpass or any other software, it is entirely up to you as the user to guarantee the next-day-business capability.

Did you try this?

If you had passwords in Xmarks, they're still available -- while LastPass made steps to try to nudge people in the right direction, and to try to prevent new Xmarks password sync users you can still access all your Xmarks saved passwords.

The steps to recover your Xmarks passwords are simple:

Xmarks Icon in Firefox -> Sync -> Synchronize your passwords with LastPass -> Wait! I need to migrate my existing Password Data out of Xmarks first!
