    How come the NOD32 updates don't make a "System notification" sound aka the balloon popup noise when it updates?

    I am not using Vista but see if this helps. Go to NOD32 System Tools>NOD32 System Setup>Setup>General>Silent mode and make sure 'Enable silent mode' is not checked

    Its not, I think maybe they didn't have it set to use the balloon popup sound or something. Maybe NOD is using their own type of popup instead of a system popup? :s

    The noise NOD32 makes is normal , used by Windows . Check your sound settings in Control Panel -> Sound and Audio Devices :)

    I have no experience with Vista . All I know is from what I have read and seen but no my personal experience .

    There isn't any particular reason for Microsoft to have changed where this option is . Open Vista's Control Panel (when all the fuctions are controlled) and goto Audio Devices and ... and find it . It should be there . In Windows XP it is in this , in "Sounds" tab

    Anyway , this is Windows function ;) :)

    Silent mode...maybe...
    my volume isn't muted.
    do you know where this option is?

    Edit: oh well, if it isn't affecting other vista users, it must be something do to my install. I'll try re-installing in a few days

    Silent mode (NOD32 System Tools-->NOD32 System Setup-->General)
    To avoid display of messages that are not vital, silent mode can be activated. Virus warning messages will still be displayed if a virus is detected by AMON. Activation of Silent mode is especially appropriate in a network environment to reduce interaction of users with the system.
