This may be a dumb question but is it possible to backup your computer if it is turned off?
    Thanks

    No way.
The hard drive must be operational (powered up) in order to send or receive data.

While it is not possible to backup any machine while powered off, it may be possible to boot a PC remotely, depending on your set-up, via wake-on-lan (WOL), create the backup automatically (via scheduled tasks) and have the machine shut down when it is completed.

Please let me know if this helps or you have any more questions.
