On my desktop I have Norton Ghost 10 installed which allows recovering individual files from an explorer type interface. I have an Acer notebook with Vista Home Premium. It came with a built in backup program and two partitions but it appears you can only restore the whole system. Since this notebook is mostly just a toy, I'd prefer one of the freeware programs you recommend for individual file recovery. Thank You!

    Hi

For file backup I use Syncback free to back up my files to my removable hard drive.

Karen's Replicator is another choice for file backup/restore.
