Backing up while in W 7?

    I run Windows 7 home premium 64 bit on a laptop and backup to an external USB drive.

    I've heard that backing up while running in Windows 7 may be problematic and that it is safer to reboot using the Paragon rescue disk and backup up from there.

    Is that true? Why?

    Heard where? Both the inbuilt backup and restore work fine in Win7
