Back up a system?

    While verifying the image can give you a high degree of confidence, there is only one way to be 100% sure you can restore the image. and thats restore it.

    Having said that it depends on how critical the ability to restore is. If the system isn't critical to a specific activity. In my case my machines are critical to my business, so I restore every image to test it.

    Thanks, Pete, I just do not want to go to that much trouble. I do not blame anyone else for doing so, but my computers are mostly toys, and I can replace everything on the systems.

    But how do you test it without "crashing" your system so that you have to restore it? If you do not do that, then how can you be sure that it will work?

    Then there's knowing it'll work.

    You don't crash your system perse, but when you do a restore, you do essentially delete the partition and then restore it.
