    Hi Eliot

Unfortunately there is no English trial.
You'll have to do with a German version

Thanks for the replies. I figured as much based on my searches, but thought someone else may have had better luck. I am running Norton again for the first time in over 10 years and very happy with this trial so far. Thanks again. :D

If you download the full version you are asked for a key and if you decline you will be able to test it out for 30 days.

It's the 2006 version (kav + bitdefender engines) but download is temporarily unavailable.

    @likuidkewl
There is no such 30 days trial nor any key needed for AVK 2007 (kav+avast engines).

The 'trial' version is the same as the full one, simply you won't be able to update for latest virus definitions until you buy the product and get registered on GData servers with the alphanumerical serial code given by them, which for its part will generate your final username and password.

    Ok o_O

I guess I should have been more clear.
Download full version, don't input your username and pass, will work for 30 days w/o updates.

Guess I expected people to use the seach function.

BTW here is a link to the trial of 2006 if that helps.
    http://www.antivirus.net.my/download/avk_2006.exe

and if you really want to ask about a 2007 version try this post from 2004, he is the only one I ever expected to hear from in a timely manner:

    Hi guys,

Personally, I think the 2006 version uses the better BD engine and I have re-installed this over AVK 2007. Although, I know that everybody needs to try and decide for themselves. AVK 2006 was detecting things that 2007 didn't, even if I can't be sure if these were false positives - but probably not!

What am I going to do now that my favourite engine combination has gone?

I am going to e-mail AVK English Support to let them know I am not happy! My subscription runs out the start of May 2007 and I may have to take AVK 2007 now as second best!

    Best of luck guys.

    Best regards,
    Lee

I think they lose money because If I could try out 2007 and it wasn't resource hog, I would buy it.

My same thoughts until I purchased the 2007v (I trialed 2006v before).

Definitely this newest version is a huge improvement IMO, much lighter on resources consumption than 2006v and a better GUI (it still remains as the top AV performer according to latest on-demand av-comparatives). I did a custom installation and changed some options from within the program to make it fit to my needs.

If you wish I could send you a link to the 'tryout' so you can test it and see how it performs on your computer before you make a decision. PM me.

I decided to buy it since 2006 was not that much of a hit on my system and all my AV were expired or trial only. Its a much bigger impact than the Norton trial I was running on here. Atleast to start it is. I intend to run it a few more days to make sure. If it stays this way, I need an AV on another pc I have here for it. I am running a P4 3Ghz with 2GB of RAM on a pair of Raptors (74GB) in RAID 0. There should not be a hit in speed on here IMO.

    Hi Eliot,

I actually jumped to the conclusion FOR MY EXAMPLE IN QUESTION about 2006 picking up things that 2007 didn't, as the virus on the website I was visiting was taken off when I moved to 2007.

What I am certain of is that the BD engine has always been better than Avast as proven by test results - no contest up to the present date.

I never really check resources unless a change is big enough for me to see. If my medium power laptop runs at average speed I am happy. I think 2007 and 2006 are very roughly the same in resource usage.

Good luck in making your decision.

    Best regards,
    Lee

It seems to be much better after a reboot. I noticed that some proxy service was eating 50% cpu before the reboot, prompting it. MS Outlook opens a little slow, but otherwise, it runs pretty darn well for a dual engine.

Good to see there are a lot of happy Antiviruskit users.
It really is a good product. To me it was far too heavy. Maybe it's just my pc.

    this forum is biased!
nope it runs poorly, even on high spec.

good detection isnt everything for sure, this AV only proves that.

    very true.
if you look at av comparitives everyone should see the difference between the 99. something of the single engine av's and the less than 1 percent extra detection of the dual engine av's

Yep, its going to the secondary pc that I hardly ever use anymore. It takes forever to load a bunch of my apps. It loads them ok the second time in a short time frame, but open Firefox now, then close for about 45 min. Open it again and its like it has to scan every darn bit and byte even though nothing has changed in there.
