I have been getting anywhere between 5 and 15 updates a day for several days now. Awesome update work on GData's part. :D

Yes, an awesome number of updates each day, new KAV updates are almost hourly (though not quite) and BD updates are less but frequent also, at least several each day.

A substantial number of new threats are continually identified, the following is typical:

    231 new entries on 3-12-2005

    Awesome, man, simply awesome!

I think 3-4 updates a day is enough..but I still get time to do the hourly update.

But with ArcaVir I only get once a day..and no updates on weekends :'(

One a day is pretty strong . Especially if it has quite a few sigs in them . And , not sure about Arcavir but , heuristics play a big part too .

How is it possible since they get the same updates. from Kaspersky, and the RAV engine is pretty much just a dead weight now, without updates from eXtendia, GData. Also if you are curious you will see that eXtendia calls to GDatas servers for updates.

Then add in the fact that extendia is like molasses compared to GData AVK.

Do you still need to pay extra for the hourly updates with Gdata?

When I last looked if you had the standard home licence you could only receive 3 updates a week (and urgent updates if required) and they wanted you to pay extra for the daily updates

    Is that still so?

    Cheers

I did not have to pay when I upgraded mine. It said 29$ but went on thru without any payment requests. I enjoy a minimum of 5 and most times 8-10 updates daily. They are relatively small in size and it updates without you even knowing its doing the job. :D Hope that helps. :D

How did you get your copy of AVK 2004 updated to 2005? I have been looking on Gdata's website but can't see any link for updating, only purchasing 2005.

    TIA,
    Trev

You have to send an email to the support people with your information. And if they don't reply you can try the international contact.

I noticed my Extendia AVK serial number can be used to Activate GDATA products as well. Considering Extendia is $9 from Amazon thats not bad. 8-D

Well....Then there's NO reason to use eXtendia's own AVK then!! WOW! :D
