Hello, The new Avira GUI is avaialable now in beta center as version 15.0.10.378 What do you think about the new UI?
i personally do not really like it (and i really hate to say that) i find it very choppy and slow to respond during use. it takes up to much screen space and opens in different spots on the screen usually half off my monitor down towards the bottom. it just opens the old gui for settings lic mgmnt etc. so its sort of just a skin. and honestly i MUCH prefer the old one. luckily for now at least i can still use the old one by opening from a different file. i hate to be hard on it but im just totally being honest. this looks almost like an android app on my desktop. i hope they dont take away the ability to use the old gui.
So much comments.. For novice user=>Perfect For Advance User=>Too simple (Over Simple),less function... It need Basic View, and Advance View On my computer it didn't facing any delay or lockup because it was base on the HTML-Style. Those who are facing lockup, delay should think the problem may related to the render engine which the new GUI was using QT?MSHTML(Trident/IE)?WebKit?Blink? If that was MSHTML,it need your IE be the latest version and try to default all your setting Also you could simple using some registry hacks force the GUI using the IE Edge(Windows 7-Windows 10),IE9(Vista),IE 8(XP) The KEY was FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ie/ee330730(v=vs.85).aspx#browser_emulation
Re Update 10 (v15.0.10.378 ) GUI, there are some screensoots in malwaretips= http://malwaretips.com/threads/avira-2015-update-10-build-15-0-10-378.43820/
I'm always ambivalent about GUI designs, as IMO don't serve any purpose aesthetically speaking and they are very rarely used once the AV has been configured. I would be more interested in whether the new GUI facilitates and speeds up some tasks, that would be my criterion for a choice.
honestly all the new gui is as i said is almost like skinning a program. when you open the new gui and click settings it brings you to the old settings menu. when you click lic mgmnt same deal it bring you to the old one, same for scanner and everything else. imo the new gui is MUCH MUCH slower to respond then the old one was also. i really dont see the need for this change and personally very much dislike it. why add a gui on top of a gui with the new one only to open the old one to actually do anything. i also do not like the fact it is now html based (again imo)
This is an issue that is more important than appearance, and I fully agree Avira's GUI has always been too slow to respond with any version of it as long as I can remember.
7 replies, 6 against & one neutral. Success Stefan! ---------------------------- Instead of new GUI, you better re-arrange/remove the useless items in taskbar drop-down menu, (they can used via the GUI only), imo. Personally, I only use the "Start update" option (in order to perform an update manually).
Product Version 15.0.9.502 (Update 9) released on Thursday Avira Antivirus for Windows, version 2015 update 9 has been released on March 19th, 2015.
if need to rearrange those stuff I would ask why not just remove or takeout the whole tray icon (legacy) stuff and bring the jobs to launcher? because all basic function of tray icon already present in launcher context menu Accually the New GUI was using Webkit/Blink(Chromium) Render Engine
