My elderly neighbor has AVG-AV 7.5 on her old Win98se notebook. AVG-AV 7.5 will probalby stop updating as of 12/31/08 (as is AVG-AS 7.5).

She is trying to decide whether to use Avast or Avira. Would anyone know which might be better for her? No too difficult to install, configure and run?

    Any help appreciated.

I think Avast would probably be more trouble free for an elderly person.

Alice, this thread could be closed soon for being A vs B (and likely produce arguments).

You'd be better off starting a thread, asking how well Avast would run on win 98, and give people an idea how much ram/cpu your neighbor has.

Then start a thread about Avira doing the same.

Yes, and besides that, there are already a huge number of threads about these two products here. What is there that is new to say about either? Both are fine products. Read some of the existing threads to see what people think about both.
