that doesnt answer my question, when i was installing avira free version 10, avira warned me that it may conflict with windows defender, is it suppose to warn you about that?

Yes, it's supposed to warn you. Avira comes with Antispyware protection. You should not be running two of the same thing in real-time because they can cause conflicts, whether it be antiviruses, antispyware, firewall, etc.

Avira is one of the AV's that truly does at times conflict with Windows Defender on some machines.

    ah ok thx,

i just found another problem with the luke filewalker User interface when scanning. i have windows vista aero set to orange and while the main GUI is in orange, the scanner is always in windows aero basic light blue. it even flickered from orange to light blue.

how do i fix this? i already tried reinstalling.
