Avira detects it as HEUR/malware on my friend's machine. Is it a false positive? If it is, I tell him to submit the sample to the Avira website right?

send it to heuristik2 (at) avira.com, it will end up on stefan kurtzhals' desk faster than sending it to their support address.

It is a false positive, should be fixed with the engine 7.3.1.33 and the recent VDF update.

I'm getting a lot of false positive heuristic detections lately. Latest is C:\Program Files\Dell\Media Experience\Music\MMLibraryObj.dll, which is a Dell Jukebox file for Dell Media Experience. Antivir is FREAKING out and will not stop alerting me to it.

Is there a way to make Antivir skip a particular fileo_O

AWESOME!!! Stefan already got back to me and said my false positive will be fixed in tomorrows update. Avira has great customer support from the few times I've had problems, and I have the free version!

What was the heuristic setting for the Guard and Scan functions? If set to high, you might get a lot of false positives.

Right now you might, but that is good as it helps Stefan tune the engine.

I have the AntiVir guard's heuristic setting at medium, and the scanner's at high. That's a good compromise IMO.

Just scan your hard discs on high heuristic setting and send me all suspected false positives to the heuristik2@avira.com account. When no one sends me false positives, I cannot fix them. :doubt:

I have both the guard and scan on high. What's weird is the false positive I reported to you (described above), did not show up during previous scans, but was detected in the guard all of a sudden for some odd reason.

The nag screen is still there, but I don't mind that! I don't understand why people complain about it since aVira is free! That particular ad was YUCK! but most of the ads are fine. The one last nite was nice.
