Can anyone tell me if its possible to have the Free version of Avira set to update more than once a day? I found the settings but its a bit discombobulated. If anyone has any insight into this, it would be cool.

    Thanks.

Thanks I saw that yesterday. But it does not explain how to set it to update hourly. Each time I try something I get this message.

In the Admin-Scheduler section, you have to create a new job for each time you want it to update. If you want an update every 6 hours for example, then create 4 different scheduled Update jobs and specify the times to run, etc.

why you want to update every hour :d avira brings updates every 2 hours from 10 oc bill 18 oc.
so there is no need for many updates every day....

Wow really that's crazy man. Thanks for the help. Weird that you have to do that in order to setup updates in that fashion.

Yep, that's the only way around the once a day routine with the free version...

It's been a while since I bought the paid, but I think you can schedule it any way you want in that one..... I use the free now because I didn't like the way the web guard slowed down browsing in the paid version.

Thanks for the heads up. Nice to see you're still around. I remember you from some years ago. Don't know if you remember me or not.

    Cheers.

Can Avira be easily disabled and turned off when I want to play online games? And then easily enabled again?

You guys are either attempting to troll us (which I think is not something widely acceptable here) or really don't know. In case of second option, picture of Avira menu shown after clicking Avira tray icon:

So why does a graghic have anything to do with excellent free protection. This whole concept of getting something free but only if it is a Lexus, is just plain stupid.

I do not mind if the free version of an AV has a nag screen, mainly depends on how they include it in the product. If the ad is unobtrusive and mixes very well with the GUI, I wouldn't mind it being there. A little upgrade button at the top is fine too.

However, I do not want an ad obtrusively blocking my screen, advertising me to upgrade. And its maximized by default to be 100% sure it got my attention? Heck no. Immunet Free has an ugly unobtrusive ad in it, and an obtrusive ad, which I hate. PCTools Free AV has ads all over the place (SD has one too), which I hate even more.

You can easily disable the nag screen in Avira, so it's pretty much a non-issue at this point....
