Mine too, AVG 7 Free does a good job on my old machine.

But I'm starting love Avast Home 4.5 this AV is more tweakable, more robust features, more powerful and version 4.5 lighter and fast than I think. Avast uses appropriate resources to provide good protection.

IMHO, Avast Home 4.5 is very good AV not because of it is free. :)

Hi Minacross: See my post in the other thread about AVG in this section.

I really liked AVG 6.0 but AVG 7.0 slowed down my machine to an unacceptable level. Uninstalled it and my machine is back to normal. I do not provide specifics, as I do not want suggestions to change this that or the other thing.

    Thanks

  4. Hi, I am using AVG 7.0.279, and it goes wright, the only problem is for sending mails, if I want to send one I have to deinstall the plugin for email, and then to install it again.
I hope this problem won´t be present in AVG 7.0.290, but I think AVG is going well, because before it didn't work with outlook express and now it does.
The final version of AVG will be very good, well I hope that.
I use as a backup E-Scan and my xp SP2 goes fine.
I used CA 7 free for a year and now I am using this one.

  5. AVG works fine, much less of a nuisance than AntiVir's so called auto updates which are a pain in the proverbial.

AVG skin is much better than AVAST skins which are the worst I have ever seen.

You can disable skinning in avast if you don't like it. What's the problem?

Avast skinless interface is very plain, fast, simple and easy to use.
