Today I recieved an email from avg telling me my antispy has only 30 days left to run.

It offered me 25% off the price of renewal.

It also advised me of the benefits of moving to the suite as an alternative.

Even though it says in the email that they are talking about my antispy subscription, if I follow the link they have tagged my licence number, which is at the top, saying it's an anti virus subscription. (I use avira)

Looks like one department doesn't know what the other is doing.

    Hi,

just received an e mail from AVG, indicating current AVG anti spyware(EWICO)will not be updating after this year end, and offering an one-year free lic for AVG Internet security 8.0

Is AVG internet security 8.0 any good ?

I have been using AVG for 2 years and been satisfied with that.

This year I receive their promotion to renew with 25% discount.
    As I see this it's a downgrade.
I have been using AVG 8.0 and if I renew I'll get the version 7.5.
Is this a way to care about loyal customers?

The market is full of Anti-virus products and of course I can't accept this kind of marketing.

My loyalty is not there anymore.

My email from this month says my avg antispyware will not update after Dec 31 2008. It gives my exp date of that key 9-2009 which is correct. But now offers me avg internet security 8.0 and key free till 3-2010 so maybe this is a Christmas extention.

I just don't like this kind of "promotion".
If I want to renew it's not mentioned that I'm getting a version 7.5.
They sent me an email with my version 7.5 license key and not the new version 8 license I have used the last year.
I don't need their version 8.0 which include firewall.

Pay attention the the offers from AVG !!!!

The upgrade from version 7.5 to 8 is free - just install AVG 8.0 and enter your 7.5 license key. It should work. If it doesn't, you can convert your license key to an AVG 8.0 key for free. Contact AVG and they will help out. :)

Yes, that's what I did last time.
But the information on the renewal site do not mention version 8.0.
I have sent them an email but did not have any response.

AVG License upgrade from 7 to 8

    http://www.avg.com/upgrade-7-8

It is easy. Put in your 7.X license and a 8.X license number will be generated automatically. Remember to copy the license number for your record.
