From what I understand, AVG don't even have a release date yet.

I do know that the AVG staff are being given a demo of the new version, next week.

My guess would be early to mid-October? That's for the commercial version. I think the Free tends to follow a few weeks later.

Per AVGs beta forums, someone posted that AVG sent out a newletter to their resellers stating the end of September. The speculation is that it may be a little later than that, so mid October sounds about right.

Third Beta (RC actually) is out.
So end September seems indeed a little too quick.

    I see two logical options:
    A. only one RC is coming, final release early October
    B. need another round of fixing for RC2, final release mid October

(Changelog contains nothing interesting, just a bunch of fixes.)

Has AVG improved their heuristics at all in these new betas? I noticed their file heru engine is not very good at detecting a wide range of new malware. The only new malware I have seen it catch was a new variant of Zbot but other then that it really does not seem that active.

I know it's ID protection (the behavior blocker) is good but that will not help those who are using the free version (if they do not add the behavior blocker to it)

I think the heuristic is still mediocre but I read that they will include cloud technology? :doubt:

I really hope that it will be included in the free version as well...
    Any news about that?

No news on Free, from what I understand. AVG tend to release the updated Free many weeks after the launch of the commercial version though.

The commercial AVG 2011 should be available next week!

    Hello all,

I can tell you what I saw today with my own eyes: the local Walmart store has the retail versions of AVG 2011 and AVG ISS 2011 for sale for $30 and $50 respectively.

Maybe they're just the 2010 versions with a "free upgrade" card inside the box? :)

No they do not. Not officially. It's not even announced to resellers and, like us, Walmart are a reseller!

No box images are available, no pricing info, nothing.

That's to be announced next week.
