avg as questions

avgas questions

holla to you all nice forum. been using ewido/avgas from there releases without problems i have a couple of questions

avgas signiture/update folder there are 587 dat files 2000 - 2587 is this normal.

in msconfig avgas guard is disabled so i started the service & rebooted then i tryd to update avgas manualy i got xml parser error repeatedly so i closed avgas went back to msconfig & guard was disabled again openend avgas & updated successfully so it looks like avgas plays nice when guard is stopped, how it stopped i dont know could be windows defender or kav ive read a post where guard.exe needs to run as its core to the programme in the latest version. is this activity normal in v.7.5.0.50.
i always update late at night or early hours & never have a problem.

should guard.exe be running all the time on avgas v.7.5.0.50 [free] on xp

thanks for replying dadkins the link you provide discusses v 7.5.1.36 i know that guard has to be running in latest version from reading through the posts i want to know if guard.exe needs to be running all the time in v 7.5.0.50, as its disabled in msconfig on my set up.

I have no idea about the 7.5.0.50 version.

 

in 7.5.0.50 the guard just needs to run if you're using the paid version and want the guard to do realtime protection.
