If there are any AVG 7.1 or 7.5 users here ,id be grateful if you could confirm whether the "event history log" in control centre (under service tab) actually works for you?.It hasnt worked for me on 7.1 nor on 7.5.Its supposed to log updates ,resident shield detections etc.Id be intrested to know whther its a 98 problem or whether it occurs on later OS too.

They definately need to hire some new GUI designers.

I've got avg antimalware installed at the moment (no email scanner installed). The security suite resource usage is slightly higher than this version, somewhere up around 40mb if i remember correctly.

Heres the resource usage for the antimalware version.

Agree, their programs could definatly use some polish. A cleaner look would help much :thumb:

The antispyware component definitely uses up the majority of the resources. Heres the resources usage for just the antivirus.

I guess the gui is a matter of taste.Personally i like it in the reduced mode.I prefer AVGs gui to quite a few other avs that ive used.

Is AVG Anti-Malware 7.5 better than AVG Anti-Virus Professional Edition 7.5 regarding detection rates and detection range? I have not tested yet, but would like to know. In any case i think AVG improved also the detection of polymorphic viruses.:)

Took a look at AVG Anti-Malware 7.5. I could be wrong, but it appears at first glance to be a combination of AVG Free with an anti-spy/malware module. I say it's the freeware version of AVG here because the options of the AV module are restricted much like what you'd see in AVG Free. I'll assume that they've integrated ewido (Now AVG Anti-Spyware) into this program. IMHO, they should have integrated the "Pro" version of their AV into this product.
