    Where can one find information on average time spent in issuing a patch ( any patch ) for a security software - open or closed source?

    I want to know whether open source security products gets patches faster or is it closed source products ( of eSecurity, Symantec etc., ) ? Also can I get the exact time taken for issue for patches that are issued.

    Those are good questions. This is a classic discussion too. My experience with Windows XP is that I have had an average of 6.5 patches per month on the OS since 2001. Let alone Office. I have not yet tabulated Office. Hmmm... Where to look? I'll be right back with an answer.

    Oen;

    You might want to contact SANS. You can look at VirusTotal. They have some interesting stats.
