I am trying Avast 8 and really like it. With most people using Avast for free, I wondered how Avast does as a company and how it funds its research and development.

Searching, I quickly found its 2007-2010 financial statements in an NASDAQ IPO filing (I guess it never went through with it.)

While pretty small, it is a very profitable and growing company. Its earnings and cash flows have basically doubled each year from 2007-2010.

Its financial statements are at the end of this NASDAQ filing: http://www.nasdaq.com/markets/ipos/filing.ashx?filingid=7928554#A2206699ZF-1_HTM_I1

I'm glad they didn't go public. I doubt they'd be the same company they are now. Their free product would probably be pretty gimped compared to now.
