Yes, all Cloud features are also available in free version as well. See the 2nd and the last screenshot in my first post. All screenshots are from the free edition and you can see, streaming updates are available.

What does the pro version have over the free version?

SafeZone contains a Chromium-based browser, which will be run within a secure desktop, isolated from everything else. Useful for banking, etc.

What about the new compatible install (install as the 2nd line of defense)? any details? does it act like on demand scanner only without any services installed or any real time shields enabled ?

Just installed Avast 7 Free beta in a VM. They really do offer a lot in the free product. The Peer to Peer screen sharing support tool is unique for an AV and a good feature in a multi-user environment. I have it running along side Online Armor Free in XP. I'm not noticing any conflicts so far, but I wonder if there are any recommendations for this particular combination?

I have never had a problem with Avast not behaving well. I have to see how it does against some zero day stuff, and see if the cloud makes a difference.

I'd like to see it tested. I know most folks don't give the youtube tests much credibility, but I am too lazy to do any myself. :D

I don't see what's so bad about Chrome being offered. It's a heck of a lot better than an Ask toolbar or registry cleaner.

And can someone elaborate on what the 2nd line of defense install is?

Also, I love the carbon-fiber pattern!

agree 1000% with hayc whats worse is i own paid lic's to ais and in the version 7 ais installer it still advertises chrome, free version i can understand and i do agree this is better than ask or something but in PAID versions this garbage should NOT be included.

not sure if it matters but i do notice at least on my systems if you dont uncheck the make chrome the default browser FIRST you cant uncheck it. not sure how that affects the install but make sure to uncheck that one first then uncheck the top box. at leas for me on 3 machines this was what i had to do

Chrome can be unchecked in any order you want. If you go from top to bottom, it will uncheck the second one as well. If you go from bottom to top you have to uncheck both by yourself.

Chrome is fast and secure browser and is offered because of that mostly and second as a promo part.

The new GUI looks very nice. Avast has done a great job on it, but, you can remodel all you want, it doesnt mean detection ability will be any better.

I hope it is, but that is the real sign of if this works or not.

    New Feature Avast Anti-Phish

    Avast Anti-Phish Screen Attached

Anyone know if its is database only or some kind of analyzer like heuristics/behaviour too?

I think Get Me Out Of Here should have the word Recommended.

And after Clicking Get Me Out Of Here, either it should show the default Home Page or Something from Avast like You are safe now or like. The current page after clicking Get Me Out Of Here is not good.

Edit - Attached the Avast Page after clicking Get Me Out Of Here.

I think its an On-Demand Scanner, no Real-Time Protection.
