Be careful, updating to this caused me to go into blue screen hell. I reinstalled my old version 6.0.986 and then, using the updater within the program itself, updated again, only to go back to blue screen hell. So I'm staying at 6.0.986 until Avast forces the update. This is on Win 7 64 btw, with Secunia PSI and Sandboxie as my only other "real-time" security.

Fast cure.......? Will not update to this version in the meantime. They have been pushing an update fast enough that they have inconvenienced the loyal user..well for some. Will wait and see first.

avast! is an excellent product, I would go so far as to say that it is probably the best AV from an architectural and performance perspective. Instead of focussing on adding half-baked new features, they should probably be looking at improving detection rate via more traditional means like improved defs and heuristics.

Yes. No new features until the current ones are fully baked.

It's an official update as of now. I just got the request to update through the program a few minutes ago. Considering the blue screens I got before, I'm gonna let it sit until some users here update and give feedback.

Must not be rolled out to everyone yet? I just checked again and it's still waiting for me to pull the trigger on 6.0.1027.

this is a beta unless you are running a previous beta you will not see this as a update. if you want to use it you can install it over top of 6.0.1000

I just found out that PCMAG rated the suite a 3.5 rating. Virus removal wasn't so hot and blocking was a little better. Does 6.1 improve on that? He said that an exploit went past the sandbox too.

Very pleased :) I've been trying links on MDL all day, hard to find one that gets past the web shield.
