do you think version 5 is lighter in resources than version 4.8?

Yep, may be one of the most anticipated releases for a new version of a product in a long time.:)

    Hi guys!

    Well I wonder one thing...

Since Avast is available in a Mac version as well,
I got to ask if Alwil will update the Mac version also from 4.8 to 5.0 ?

    Anyone knows ?

For no apparent reason, I'm having some trouble with avast...
Starting earlier today, whenever the web shield is on I can't go to any website, my browser just says "waiting for www.wilderssecurity.com..." for a while before it says the website cannot be found, it does this for any website.
As soon as I disable the web shield every website loads fine.
I've tried a bunch of different browsers and it doesn't work on any of them, but I can still play online games and check for updates through applications.

I'm not sure but doesn't the web shield work as proxy? You don't have a firewall blocking anything from Avast do you?

    Only a hardware firewall.
Nothing in my system has changed that I know of, I was only running avast 5 on it's own, no other real-time security apps.

I'm giving Panda Cloud AV a try, I'll reinstall avast later and see if it works.

Seems like you aren't the only one with this issue.

I also have that bug, But I just ignore it and call it good. If it is the only bug I get out of this beta I will be very surprised.

I don't have any issues either. This beta has been solid for a while now. :thumb:

Don't you have gui probs with the virus chest? It selects files a bit weird. Also the right click scanner doesn't always start on my system. Im having high cpu from sf.bin (avasts code emulator i think) starting certain apps. I dont see popups when using Opera. Very high cpu use when moving things to virus chest (from results window) with gui freezing.
Other than that avast rocks (specially cpu use and the web-shield).

I dont have any issues either, only the update bug that does NOT reflect the actual updated signatures version, other than that, ver. 5.0.221 is rock solid for me, even the "Behavior Shield Statistics", are showing that it is working somehow (maybe it is not completely implemented but it is working already).

Windows XP Pro SP3 with OnlineArmor 4.0.0.10 (paid version) and tavast 5.0.221 and that is all for real-time security programs working on my machine.

A few minutes ago I got an update notice. The update ran, and a restart was required. After the restart, the update bug seems to have been fixed. The date of the virus definition version on the summery page is correct, with a green check mark next to it. :)

Reinstalled Avast 5 and the Web Shield was still interfering with my browsers.
Installed Avast 4.8 and the Web Shield is working fine, I'll give Avast 5 another try when theres a program update.

What is the new version you updated to ? It seems that the very latest is still 5.0.221 and if that is the case, the "update bug" is still NOT fixed.
