    Hi RejZoR

I'm not clear on what you are saying here. Are you talking about 5.0? Currently, I have 4.8 set to check every 30 minutes for me.

These BSOD's if any, were caused by Behavior Shield being connected this time around.

I am running .221 on 2 other computers and the behavioral shield is not active. I thought it had something to do with Vista users.

Only Script Blocker will be missing in Free version as far as Shields are concerned.

Although the Web Shield will take care of any scripts you come across while browsing, the script blocker is really only useful if you run the script directly from the hard drive.

IMO definitely the best free AV there is. ;)

    That is very cool! :thumb:

What kind of skripts could harm the harddrive? :doubt:

Is anyone using OA and avast together? I have this OA 1yr license sitting around and my KIS is getting close to expiring. Anyone tested out this combo yet?

Do you need to turn off any components or are they any conflicts with everything on?

Both work fine together, just make sure that in OnlineArmor is created a rule for AvastSvc.exe on the Firewall section of OA:

    AvastSvc.exe >TCP>OUT> ports 80 and 443 allowed!

If you happen to have problems connecting your browsers to the internet, this rule may be missing and if it is, the avast webshield (if turned ON), will prevent your browsers to connect outside, so this is the first thing to check after installation of avast if you have already running OA.

Besides this suggestion, I preferred NOT to have turned OA´s webshield ON in favor of avast´s one because this last is much more thorough than the one in OA

Yes and No. It basically depends on how you 'use' your computer.

Trust me, to date the worst threat that I've seen on pc's around my neighborhood it is called hardware failure :ouch:

Casual update release cycle is every day. But if there are any new threats that require immediate attention, they can release several updates in 1 day.
So saying they update only once per day (strictly) is silly.

Wow who said strictly? I said most of the time its only once a day. Its enough for me personally. I never get infected anyway. But having more updates a day would be nice too. Its what most of the other AV´s are doing. They cant be all wrong.

    3 updates on 6.11.2009
    3 updates on 5.11.2009
    2 updates on 4.11.2009
    2 updates on 3.11.2009
    2 updates on 1.11.2009

If you look further back, there were mostly daily updates. So malware activity obviously dictates update releases. Or they simply bumped up the update rate for avast! 5.

I installed the latest build yesterday. When I started up today, I got the pop up that my virus definitions have been updated.

When I go into the Current Statis GUI, it shows the definition version as 091107-1 in red with a yellow exclamation mark. When I manually update, it says updates are up to date, current version 091108-1. Is this a known bug, or is there something wrong on my end?
