avast 4.1 home edition

    I read on the main page of this site, section AV information about and old version of avast. I simply want let you know that avast 4.1 home (free) exists and works prety good.

    I want to second that. Last week I had a computer brought to me that was infected with Klez and Sobig--about 16 files were fouled up. The owner had no AV, so I grabbed Avast! 4.1 and installed it--as I normally do in cases like this.

    Upon installing Avast! 4.1 and running a boot-time scan, it found an .exe running in memory, killed it, then up popped the virus removal tool, which I hadn't seen before.

    It detected and deleted the infected files, cleaning the ones that could be cleaned, and wow, I was pretty impressed. Avast! keeps getting better.

    I hit Housecall just to do a backup scan, and it found nothing, so I can also vouch for Avast!'s effectiveness as well.

    Not a trouble with XP SP1 fully updated, Windows 95/98/Me...
