Did you have PUP detection enabled in avast?

C'mon MF,detection rates change everyday and that test was a on-demand one and then who cares if the remaining 5% of malware that came from the internet had the URL blocked by avast.I mean avast gets the binaries from VT everyday and avast has improved, check the WPDT test,it is doing better than some other vendors who have lagged behind in a dim test.

If you want to see improvement, check the latest AV test results they went from 4.5 to 5.0 and now from 5.0 to 5.5 :)

Avast has never lagged behind in providing you a better protection when it comes to the real time.On-demand is outdated atleast for now and it doesnt take into account the new dyna-gen,evo-gen and other real time technologies that work to defend on-execution/real time.

Scores will change a bit once avast! 2014 gets tested. For now it's still just v8...

No, I said that I will never understand why people change because of a test, and not that they should follow my words. But each to their own, change if you want, some people change everyday.

Good. PUPs are not malicious in manner.
If no malware is running in memory, avast did a pretty good job.

Sorry for keeping my opinion, but it was not doing good job at all - my system was compromised by at least 5 infections and that's f.....g worrisome.

Avast doesnt scan for PUP's by default, you need to enable it in file shield to detect them :D

Then I think you were not infected.
Those files were doing no harm.

If Avast is in Hardened Mode and going to block a program, does it ask if to block or does it silently? If asks then in both - aggressive and moderate?

    Thank you.

Hardened Mode sets to agressive blocks without asking, it still show an "Add to Exclusion" list button though.
