On a slightly different Non-avast related note...

Panda Cloud keeps scoring impressively and I've been personally testing it myself and its quite amazing.

Just wondering why more of you guy's don't use it.

When you combine it with something like CFW or Exe Radar Pro with some other items it feels more than enough security.

I really don't understand the ranking
Take for example Symantec and McAfee
    Symantec Jan Feb
    Zero day 99 100
    Widespread 100 100
    Score 5.5

    McAfee Jan Feb
    Zero day 100 99
    Widespread 100 100
    Score 6.0

I guess this depends on the set of viruses used.

I can't agree more, and it's very suitable for "common folks" too

Anyone paying attention has observed Avast's downward spiral over the past five or so months.

It did rather poorly in VB100's RAP in December's Win8.1 Comparative:

Their Win7 Comparative will be out in April. Hopefully Lavasoft will post-up that RAP as well as they are normally published only in the VB100 subscription channel and more exact than the publicly posted averages chart.

    Cheers.

You missed the point. Whatever test in which G-DATA fails is perfectly valid and if ever G-DATA perform well in tests those specific tests are a joke. Its very simple and solid approach :D

I wonder why this troll has not been banned yet... lol
But there is a fantastic self-moderation solution in the absence of a centralised one. Add him to the ignore list. I did now, so space in thread is not filled-in with junk. ;)

You people do realize AV-Comparatives tests are superior to those of AV-Test, right? If it was the other way around, I would sure give credit to G-Data as much as I despise it. But sorry for not trusting a test whose results aren't even laid out properly, where it ranks above generally better-reviewed products (Eset, Kaspersky, Bitdefender etc.) in terms of detection while G-Data users say they get infected all the time, Microsoft products are supposedly so horrible that one would think all of its users should get infected (at least it's always above 90% on AV-Comparatives so it doesn't apply there, also you would think it would score better on W8.x with all the new features). Apparently admitting it makes me a troll and a blasphemer, even though I'm a decent poster when some blind fanboy who gets away with saying much worse crap about everything but one for no reason whatsoever isn't TROLLING me. Holy hypocrisy and double standards, Batman!

    @Inside Out

Perhaps I can understand your points a little bit. I myself treat AV-Comparative's test results to be more reliable than AV-Test's too. And I personally have my own grudge with AVG. The thing is perhaps the way you are presenting your thoughts with slight ad-hominem flavor. No bad intention to you really, just saying what is in my (messy) mind. Hope you won't get offended or something, but I apologize if you do.

Well, to forcefully make this back somewhat on-topic...

It lagged my boot-time horribly. If they've fixed it then I might try it again.
