    You should not worry about these summary awards.
    F-Secure was not chosen for these awards, but by their very good RAW scores.
    This methodology allows to choose more accurately.

    I am testing AVIRA Premium these days (without the Web Shield) and have no problems with the speed.

    As for my experience with AVIRA - posititve . I run with High heuristics and I did get a single FP on one old exe of program in my Download folder but it was just on High heuristics - I can accept it. The product is light. In the Premium (paid) version(s) I don't like that when you set the Guard actions to fully automatic the user receives absolutely no alert/pop-up or whatever notification that a malware has been found . If the Guard action is set to interaction - then a pop-up asks for action. The support options are not that much but anyway the program is good one and I would use it . AVIRA is cheap , too .

    I am back to NOD32. ..coz it has lesser false positives and I am confident that it still has a high rates of detection of in the wild viruses. I paired it with DefenseWall HIPS Personal Firewall and I have more peace of mind. ;)

    I think he has in mind the very badly implemented Webguard. I also use Avira but without Webguard. I've used all the major AVs that has webguards - Avira's is among the very badly implemented. You can also see that in their forum - almost every second post is connected with the webguard.

    O I C! So why didn't he say so instead of all the fancy footwork?

    I do not need Webguard or its ilk. I got a Donk. (Namely, SafeOnline)

    I don't think Safe Online is a substitute for a Webguard - it doesn't protect against exploits for example.

    If my memory still serves me well, I believe it's something Prevx 4 will bring.

    I use Avira both on my main PC ans a laptop and have never had any download speed issues. I guess I am lucky. I haven't noticed any issues with the Webguard.

    Lucky you then! You see, sometimes it is not the actual slow down - as Stefan or Marcus (can't remember exactly) said here at Wilders, any Webguard will make a difference, will slow down somewhat. The thing is that Avira's Webguard caches every file in its whole and thus the false readings of the downlod managers, and the speed test results, which is very uncomfortable. And you can imagine what the surprise is for the regular user to see these odd things happening after installing the Premium version - and then start the numerous explanations at the forum - about the proxy, abut the caching, about the no speed difference in downloading if you use a stop-watch, etc. But despite all these explanations, no matter their correctness, the embarassment and the feeling that it shouldn't be that way stays.

    I didn't also notice a noticable slow down during casual web browsing using AVIRA Premiun v10. However , I generally run without http scanning , I don't think it is necessary.

    Prevx SafeOnline protects against browser-based attacks, including but not limited to:
    * Man-In-The-Browser
    * Phishing attacks
    * Keyloggers
    * Screen Grabbers
    * Cookie Stealers
    * Info Stealing Trojans such as ZEUS, MBR, Goldun, and Silent Banker

    IMO -- as to scope of protection -- SOL>Webguard.
