but you must have known that by making the AV companies anonymous that people are going to guess and presume, it's only natural.

depends from the source, who is 'guessing' and sometimes also the reason.

guesses are senseless, as they are anyway wrong and get not confirmed by me. should the guessing go to far, next time i will need to censor some publications fully to protect vendors, myself and indirectly also users.

av-comparatives is a great site :thumb:

In the on-demand comparatives, each time a test is done is the malware used completely unique? i.e. will any of the tens of thousands of malware samples used in February's test be used again in this August's test, or is it a completely new set of malware?

    Thanks
    Suggers

As far as i know IBK uses same base for each test + new stuff that emerges between each tests. So there is always a flow of fresh malware against which antiviruses are tested.
Not sure about proactive test though since i'm not sure if he uses all wildlist malware or just the actual one thats interesting at the moment.
Haven't checked his FAQ for such details. Maybe their already written there...

NO, NO, NO AVG and Clam are not at the top ahead of KAV and NOD!

Indeed is. And if they keep up the pace of signatures adding as of lately they may even score Advanced+ on next On-Demand test! Just check the VPS History page. They're really working hard lately.:D

Like everyone else I look forward to each IBK test. It is the one site/org that I have the highest confidence in. I believe he is objective and has the expertise to get it right, or as near as anyone I know of.

I think I have read that IBK is currently a student. Wonder what he will do when he graduates. I do hope he can continue such tests. I know such extensive tests take time and money. Many of us would get into a financial bind if we did such things over the long term. I would not have either the resources or the knowledge.

Keep up the most EXCELLENT work IBK.

    Regards,
    Jerry

i think you mean maybe user community, as the results are mainly for helping users and on a second place the av vendors/community.
    ;)
