It should be released as a special test then as is done with fprot, kav and didn't the special tests got released days before ibk?

Nice to be able to see the difference in high numbers.

Not really, for Kaspersky 7, when the test was released, it still had quite some time left until "official" release. Of course, the same may apply to Dr.Web, but I think Dr.Web wanted AV-comparatives to use this version in a normal test this time, so IBK agreed. ;)

I think its high time IBK started including Virus Chaser in AV-comparatives, seeing that he is testing eScan and KAV already (and I think their detection rates are different now)....

i hope IBK just keeps it in the usual place, no special tests or reports, just put it up against the rest and see how it does.

i was kinda hoping the results would be up by now, its usually the report that arrives on the day or later, the actual results are usually sooner. :cautious:

i thought 4.33 got a good result with av-test.org at 92%+, so i am a little more interested in this one than i usually would be.

Nope it is the 31st where I am! But it may be the 1st in some time zone!

Whatever the results are we will all act and assess the same way NO matter when they are available.

Relax, whats the rush? We are all running AV's of one sort or another! Take the time to read the whole report and don't just leap in to attack or defend your favorite or an arch rival. What I always find interesting is the posts that say well if we leave out this factor or tested differently or on a different test set the results would have been different.

    What will be will be!

Making a wild guess here, but I think you may be happy with Dr.Web's performance this time. :):)

A bit dissapointed by avast!, though it's good to see they haven't gone down.
Constant track record shows they can keep a level of quality, even though it's not top most... we'll see more when detailed results are out.

Anti-Vir vs Kaspersky vs NOD32... Hmmm.... I wonder if the order in detection has changed since the last test.

Re: AV Comparatives is Almost Due

Last time there were 6 Advanced+ ratings and now 10. Two that moved up, Nod32 and Symantec were very close to Advanced+ last time, and this was noted by the author. Improvements in AVG anti malware and Bitdefender are pleasant but not big surprises.

If you take the view that the best one has advanced+ for both on-demand and retrospective tests, Nod32 regains the crown, but Symantec and Gdata are tied for second.

Symantec, despite all the bashing is solid. The only thing that concerns me is its use is so widespread that it is going to be the first AV malware authors test their new wares against, and the one most likely to be subject to shut down attacks.

Life goes on. As I predicted, I will not be changing anything around here.

well i am starting to wonder about this test.

4.44 has better detection, yet its still standard.

av-test say 4.33 got 92%+ and 4.44 definatly has better detection than 4.33,

    so what gives? o_O

Re: AV Comparatives is Almost Due

imo drweb focussed on the new engine, but missed to add detection for malware they do not detect. maybe we will see the improvement of this new engine in the retrospective test, or maybe in 2008 when they will focus more on adding detection for malware they do not detect.
anyway yes, 4.44 is a bit better than 4.33; otherwise it would have scored worser.
