It's the Autosandbox prompt. The user has a chance to change the decision and run the app OUTSIDE of the sandbox, although the default is to run it sandboxed.

That's why the folks over at Av-comparatives.org call it "user dependent".

(AV-test.org guys, on contrary, just count it as a "pass").

    Thanks

Thanks for share this, since it's a mystery to know how they calculate the results, due to the methodology is not avaliable

Testing features like HIPS, behavior blockers, sandboxes is more difficult, even the umbral recognition between correct decisions of the product evaluated (a detection or FP), especially if some of the product decisions are hidden from the user

some products seem to use that fact for scoring well in this test

When will be released the report?

Will be included false alarm testing? I dont like the fact the same vendors score the highest.

    What do you mean?

The top 5-6 performers regularly changed places over the last 7 months.
Do you expect lesser performing suites to make sudden jumps?

"Overall Report for the Whole-Product Dynamic "Real World" Test
    (March-June) released!

Symantec, F-Secure, Bitdefender, G DATA, Trend Micro, Panda, ESET, Kaspersky
and Avast reached high protection rates.
...Three products got a downgraded award due wrongly blocked clean sites/files.

Big props to Bitdefender. Seeing more FPs from Symantec which historically has been low in FPs.

Yes! Advanced+ for Avast! Surprised Avira only got Advanced, and AVG getting only a Standard is a shock. Pretty sad FP rate from Webroot.

    Indeed.
Anyone from Webroot who can comment on the results from the last AV-C report?
Dynamic detection is somewhat below par with a score of 94,7%, resulting in 14/17 place.
The number of FP's is staggering to be honest.
Where Symantec (31 FP's) and PCTools (58 FP's) are also bottom rank performers in this particular test, Webroot scores a massive 207 FP's.

Could someone from Webroot explain what's the cause for this score?
Is it due to non-prevalence in the user-base or 'cloud' or something else?

Thank god ESET is low again on false positives, combined with the great rank (second) in the performance test and good and consistent scores on the protection tests I am still happy with my choice.

Very disappointing results for Avira which show that 'ProActiv' isn't doing much in terms of detecting 0 day malware. This test also reinforces the change of attitude towards antivirus in general whereby they can only offer an opinion rather then certainty about potential infections.

I agree Osaban. As a long term supporter of Avira they have serious issues that need to be addressed. To say they will not have a substantial beta this year, when falling in performance means that someone high up has a screw loose.

They need to go back to where they started from and remember how it was done to begin with. Somewhere they lost their vision.

Sounds like they're just not making any money, and that they haven't really decided whether to go on yet, or not.....

Flagging a file based on the reputation, adding protection in other layers as HIPS/Behavior blockers may generate more false alarms.
Webroot uses and old version of the Sophos engine, no?

The biggest surprise of them all was Trend Micro. They have done very well.
