How can you gaurantee the integrity from 3rd party distributor ?
What support/comeback is there if things get screwed ?

SP3 could probably handle a lot of our update woes, but just when...

I am not sure what "integrity" you are referring to here, but actually I have more trust in 3rd parties than in MS ;) That's why I use not just the AP, but almost all other 3rd party/alternative software.

    Integrity of the downloaded file.

How can you know for sure that the patch has not been altered (intentionally or not) compared to the one on the MS server ?

What support would you get in the event of this happening ?

You can. :) I do understand your concerns with intentional altering, but I don't get how a file could be 'unintenionally' changed?

For the sake of this thread - and your question - I have downloaded (manually) a patch (example) from MS site and compared it to corresponding AutoPatcher module. Here are the hashes -

    for AP module -

for module downloaded just few minutes ago form MS site -

If you (well not you, I'm speaking generally) doubt, you can manually check the hashes of all modules. Which is time consuming, so I certainly won't bother. As I underlined in my previous post, I have trust in AP.

As for the support, I don't bother with 'supports' either. I have my backups/snapshots/whatever which support me ;)

    Cheers :)
