Correct. AVERT is portable, so you can put it on a flash drive and load a Windows PE disk, like Vista PE and it should work.

But, I'm working on creating a PE just for AVERT. So eventually, you can just burn an ISO and run it.

Err... yeah it's down. Which is why you see the following message when you click on it:

As previously stated, I'm having some issues with getting dedicated downloads for the scanners. AVERT is ready to be re-released, but it's pointless without the downloads =/

I'm aware of this. Although I thought of the acronym before I knew McAfee has a registered trademark for Avert as a word, and not as an acronym, I doubt it will affect AVERT. My AVERT is a security tool and their Avert is a name for their security labs, not a product itself. Stinger is the name of that tool =/

There are a ton of trademarks for the word AVERT. What matters is the context and whether or not this AVERT might be confused with their AVERT. Which is unlikely. Which is why I released this tool under that acronym.

I'm not too sure what exactly is inside the tool, but, you can use A2 (emisoft) command line scanner. The command line scanner seems to be more faster?so to say, but, i guess you can throw in the free version as well.

I don't know what you mean.

I appreciate the advice, but Asquared was the very first scanner I chose to use. Please see my first post.

You're fine and by all means, recommend whatever you think might be helpful.

There was a reason I couldn't use FPROT, but I can't remember what that reason is now. You either had to pay for it, it wasn't supported anymore, or it wasn't portable. I can't remember which.

This wasn't mentioned here, but, you can also include super antispyware (portable or free)...its not a command line scanner, but, I'm sure the portable version could offer some ease...even if you have to do it manually.

Maybe you can split your tool to auto/manual. Then, you can throw in extra tools such as mbam and what not, and that alone would be more than enough to destroy anything.

    Its your tool though :D

I'm up for anything, so as long as there's enough support for it. I could include a section for manual portable scanners, but I don't want to spend time developing something that people won't use.

Does MBAM have a portable version?

Not that i know of. Sas does.

As for no one using the manual part, i have to disagree. After the automatic scan of your tool, im sure some of the folks here will use mbam, and their own favorites to scan with. But like i said, your call.

    Great news!

AVERT 1.0 is done and ready to be downloaded. I've got everything in order and you can download AVERT from the original link @ post one. I'll add it to the bottom of this post as well.

Like always, if there any issues, please take a screenshot and let me know what's happening.

    Thanks!

v1.0 is about 3MB compressed. It does not include any scanners by default. This is to make the initial download small and provide a wider range of customization for the end user. If you don't think you'll need to use all 7 scanners, then don't download all 7. Just download the ones you want.

So, to help make that easier, please see image that shows you how to download scanners. It's simple.

Download AVERT v1.0 Please remember to unzip AVERT before running

    What?

Are you taking about the second window in the image I linked above? If so, then don't type anything in for Asquared or any other scanner. In fact, you couldn't type anything into Asquared if you wanted to.

Look at the image. It doesn't say to edit that info. It says to click, 'Tools." Then follow the rest.

    From post number 1:

In the meantime, I'll look over the code to ensure redundancies are intact.

Also, in this case, your directx file would be greatly appreciated. You can edit any personal data, like your user name.

    *Edit:

One more thing. Are you running avert from a writable medium? You have to unzip AVERT and you can't download the apps if AVERT has been burned to a disk.

I was asking for the DirectX file not DirectX version. It matters not though. Not anymore.

Hm... it appears that it has been unzipped...

Can you walk me through the steps you took that gets you that error?

    Such as:

    1. Opened AVERT
    2. Clicked on... etc

    *Edit.

Never mind. I found the issue. I'll upload the fixed version in just a minute.

Great. Fix has been applied and the new version should resolve this issue.
