Autoexec.Bat

    Help me pls... a few days back my computer automatically got formated when i started it... i lost all valuable data... i didnt do anything or i didnt mess with my PC... a frnd told that it may be because of a trojan that posted an entry in the autoexec.bat that formated the PC on next reboot.... can any one help me by telling how it happened and how i can prptect it from happening next timeo_O?.... pls help.. plssssssssss

    sounds like your system has been infected indeed. It's impossible to find out what has caused this; could have been a trojan etc. indeed.

    As for protection: apart from practicing safe hex, please post if - and what sort of defensive software is installed.

    You may not have lost any data, depending on you operating system. Perhaps an unformat is available.
