Three Acronis techs could not figure this one out.

    Maybe someone out there can.

    My system:
Dell laptop, Vista Home Premium, 64 bit system, laptop 1 month old.
Internal Hardrive C: OS D: (partition) Dell Recovery.
    ATIH 2009 build 9646, schedmgr.exe v.287 schedul2.exe v.287

    Problem:

ATIH 2009 will not backup or restore files unless I do the following:

    1) run backup or restore wizard
    2) try to start unscheduled task with Start or Proceed.
    3) Status is Idle and will remain Idle forever.
    4) run schedmgr.exe as administrator
    5) stop services in Command Prompt
    6) start services in Command Prompt

Must perform steps 4-6 for backup or restore to do its job or
    Status will remain Idle forever.

This has been happening since the day I purchased and downloaded from Acronis website.
Any ideas what could be causing this?

    Thanks in advance.

Do you have Norton internet Security suite or Zonealarm Firewall? I have seen cases where Norton's script protection and Zonealarm's OS firewall get in the way. Try disabling any security programs to see if they are getting in the way.

    Thanks les......

    ...but that didn't fix it.

I had disabled Trend Micro Security but still no go with TIH 2009. Status=Idle.

But it was a good suggestion.

I did look at processes (via Task Manager) and these 4 TIH 2009 processes were running as i tried to Start the unscheduled task from Idle Status:

    -TimounterMonitor.exe*32
    -TrueImageMonitor.exe*32
    -TrueImage.exe*32
    -schedhlp*32

I'm assuming that these are 32 bit processes which should have no problem running on a 64 bit system. I repeatedly informed the the Acronis techs that I have a 64 bit system so I'm sure that if my processes needed to be 64 bit they would've told me.

    Anyways, thanks.

I don't know what other software would be interfering with ATIH 2009 that would cause me to have to stop and start one of the services.

    Any other ideas are welcome.

    Hello jmason,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image

I have sent to you a file via PM, this module was created especially for 64-bit systems, if the standard one fails.

    Thank you.
