    Just curious.

If I uncheck the automatic startup scan in the scheduler, are my pc still protected?

What I mean, was that how different are the automatic startup scan from the "ordinary" active mode file protection? Just like after the startup scan was finished?

You will be protected but startup scans can reveal slightly more malware than normal scans.

We beat this one a fair bit in different threads a while back. I still find the start-up scan a bit lenghty for my tastes at times when the machine is required at full capacity upon reboot. Just my 0.02

You're welcome - don't do this at home, ever ! you may run the start-up scan via the scheduler window in lieu of enabling the task, if it is an ongoing problem with the actual length of start-up upon reboot.
