About the latest Archive support module 1114.

I would like to ask ESET to have a close look at this Arch supp mod 1114.

Here is one issue that I didn't have with 1113 but I do have now with 1114.

It is about the firmware for a Pentax digital camera K20D.
I have had the firmware 1.03 for some time on my computer.
Since the update to Archive support module 1114 I am getting this warning from EAV4:

    C:\Documents and Settings\...\Mijn documenten\Pentax\K20D\Firmware\Version 1_03\k20e103w.exe » LHA » fwdc183b.bin - archive damaged

Well, I did run my file-integrity-checker NIS File Check.
It tells me that the file has not been changed:

    Application: c:\documents and settings\...\mijn documenten\pentax\k20d\firmware\version 1_03\k20e103w.exe
    Status: Unchanged
    Version old: 2.80.5.12
    Size old: 7567778
    Date old: 2009-05-08 03:22:18
    RMD160 Hash old: F9405F99BC6BE8EC88AAFCEE3B5DF89C781723F4

The extracted file fwdc183b.bin (which you need to get on your Pentax camera) has also not been changed:

    Application: c:\documents and settings\...\mijn documenten\pentax\k20d\firmware\version 1_03\fwdc183b.bin
    Status: Unchanged
    Version old: N/A
    Size old: 8650752
    Date old: 2009-03-23 04:05:58
    RMD160 Hash old: ED5EC20C7B996475D9406BF2E69BBC86ECB8FCED

Today I looked at the Pentax site whether there was a newer firmware.
    Yes, there was: version 1.04
After having downloaded it and extracted it, I get the same kind of warning from EAV4:

    C:\Documents and Settings\...\Mijn documenten\Pentax\K20D\Firmware\Version 1_04\k20e104w.EXE » LHA » FWDC183B.BIN - archive damaged

The Pentax site from where you can download it, is:
    http://www.pentax.jp/english/support/digital/k20d_s.html

    MD5 checksums:

    The file C:\Documents and Settings\...\Mijn documenten\Pentax\K20D\Firmware\Version 1_04\k20e104w.EXE has the following Checksum(s)
    MD5 - 2BFD219370874E9359F03F7F8DBD1606

    and:
    The file C:\Documents and Settings\...\Mijn documenten\Pentax\K20D\Firmware\Version 1_04\FWDC183B.BIN has the following Checksum(s)
    MD5 - 9FDDB709D6040D3F7E94FC76E2EA0E4C

    =====

I can only conclude that something went wrong with the Archive support module 1114

    Hello,

You can submit the file to ESET's virus lab for examination, who will examine it to determine why the archive module reported an issue with the file.

Instructions on submitting a file can be found in ESET's Knowledgebase Article #141, "How to submit virus or potential false positive samples to ESET's labs." Note that while the instructions do not specifically refer to archive decompression issues, they are handled by the same group and will be examined accordingly.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

    Hi Aryeh,

    Thanks !!

I have just submitted an email, titled "Pentax firmware archive damaged".

At first I did send an email with both firmware files 1.03 and 1.04 attached (zipped etc), but I got a return message that the email could not be delivered (from what I understand because it exceeded size limit 10240000).

At second attempt I submitted the email with only the firmware 1.03 (zipped etc) attached. But I gave the link to the newer firmware 1.04 and I hope that the ESET group will also have a look at that one because EAV4 gives the same warning on both.
(I gave also the link to this thread)

    Best regards,
    Jan.
