application hijack

    hi
    could anyone tell me what an application hijack is?i had an alert pop up and it was a application hijack.what does this mean?

    here are the details:security type-application hijack,severity--info,direction-outgoing,app. name--symantec shared exe,domain-workgroup.it probaly doesnt mean anything i just wondered what it was.i know nothing about port scans etc.thanks so much for replying

    hi Paranoid
    it was just an onscreen alert from the firewall.port scan logged so i looked to see the details(in my last post)hope its nothing to worry about.it was blocked by the firewall.thanks for replying

    The "Severity--Info" suggests that it is not critical but the other parts suggest that the cause was on your system (hijacking outgoing traffic) rather than a port scan. It may be worth checking your firewall documentation for more details and giving your system a scan to be on the safe side.
