hi could anyone tell me what an application hijack is?i had an alert pop up and it was a application hijack.what does this mean? thanks Rita
Hi Rita Do you have any more details on the alert and which application generated it? Regards, CrazyM
hi CrazyM here are the details:security type-application hijack,severity--info,direction-outgoing,app. name--symantec shared exe,domain-workgroup.it probaly doesnt mean anything i just wondered what it was.i know nothing about port scans etc.thanks so much for replying rita
hi Paranoid it was just an onscreen alert from the firewall.port scan logged so i looked to see the details(in my last post)hope its nothing to worry about.it was blocked by the firewall.thanks for replying rita
The "Severity--Info" suggests that it is not critical but the other parts suggest that the cause was on your system (hijacking outgoing traffic) rather than a port scan. It may be worth checking your firewall documentation for more details and giving your system a scan to be on the safe side.
good morning Paranoid thank you for replying.i will do a scan.if i find anything else--will post back Rita
