This is starting to get exciting. I remember when it was just Microsoft vs. Apple, but these days it's starting to look like Microsoft and Apple have no problem teaming up against Google. It's like a soap opera.

Its all going to come down to individual terms agreed in the licence.
I know Motorola is not part of MPEG LA (http://www.mpegla.com/main/programs/AVC/Pages/Licensors.aspx) therefore not bound by MPEG LA's FRAND terms and Motorola can negotiate its own terms and costs of the patent licence.
This doesn't really help us finding out what patents they licensed and under what terms to Microsoft though.

But Motorola made commitments to the IEEE, ITU, and ISO standards bodies - according to Microsoft.

Ah yes... so Motorola made its own agreements directly with the standards bodies rather than using the 3rd party MPEG LA ?
If only we knew what relevant commitments were made.

    Cheers, Nick
