    NEW YORK - An America Online software engineer was charged Wednesday with harvesting a list of 92 million customer screen names that was eventually used to send spam.

    Oh my god, he committed a TERRIBLE crime.

    AOL breach gives spam fight a twist

    The day after a former AOL engineer was arrested on charges of stealing 92 million e-mail addresses that ended up in the hands of spammers, AOL customers fretted about their names circulating in cyberspace's netherworld, and more spammers were scrambling to get the coveted list.
