I'm using Windows XP Home and I just wanted to see how many registry keys I have. Is there anyway to do this?

I don't know of any way to count individual keys (I thought I read somewhere that the Registry is constantly being modified anyway?).

You can find out how large your Registry is by running a small free program called NT RegOpt; http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/ (I also use the Erunt backup tool as well).

Reg Opt tells me that my XP Home Registry has 11 hives totalling 45834240 bytes (43.7 MB according to an online calculator). Each time I use it it claims to have achieved a 2% reduction in the size of the Registry without deleting any entries.

Although it is described as an 'optimizer', RegOpt is not to be confused with the so called Registry cleaners which do very little, if any, good, but are capable of causing great harm.
