I have a user using the Zytax electronic tax filing program and whenever he imports stuff into his tables it takes a very long time. Normally what would take less than 5 minutes will take over a half hour and even become unresponsive at times. These are simple txt files which are being imported and they aren't very large files either. I created scanning exclusions in NOD to the Zytax program directory as well as exclusion on all txt files. But still a problem. When I disable real time protection in v4 things work normally. I reverted that machine back to v2 until I can determine the specific exclusions. I was wondering if anyone might be familiar with the exclusions to get it working right? Not a serious issue since this machine is not surfing the net or pulling email. It's only running this program and submitting tax info electronically.

You should run Microsoft's Process Monitor or Disk Monitor (google it) to see what is NOD32 actually scanning during the slow down . Because if you have created the exclusions and it still happens , this means that these exclusions are not enough and it is something else that is being scanned and slows down the machine . With Process Monitor , you can see what else is being scanned and add more exclusions.

    Hello Mister Natural,

Does the machine have any backup software running or any other type of security software? What about the previous antivirus? Did they have any other AV software before the ESET software?
