Anyone using Casper for imaging?

    OK, understood. But I wonder what advantage this gives you over images. Clones are not only uncompressed but they capture free space as well. Images are compressed and don't capture free space so you could put many times more images on a HD than clones. Also, images are files so they can go anywhere files can go. Flash drives, SD cards, network drives, optical media, etc.

    I keep daily images going back two weeks and monthly images going back six months. Fortunately I've only had to use old images infrequently. Mostly it is yesterday's image that is restored for a software issue but I like multi generations of backups. Restoring images for a HD failure is a rarity compared with restoring for a software issue.

    I am not sure if the Casper clones copy free space, because when I use the program, the minimum space required for the clone is less than the total size of the original partition.

    There is a 30-day free trial available, and they have a forum where experienced users could answer some of these questions.

    I am just getting started with the program, so I am not the person to answer these questions.
