"Personalizing Search Results, Surf Canyon Risks Google's Ire"

"We're looking at the actions of the user as the search is taking place -- not their past history but their current actual search," said Cramer. "What our technology does is take that, then it goes into the search results and digs out relevant results.

"So, if you do a search on "Colorado ski" and click on the link for Breckenridge, the Surf Canyon add-on combs subsequent results pages to find more Web pages featuring Breckenridge, as opposed to the myriad Colorado skiing sites displayed in the general search. Working on top of major search engines including Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft Live, the downloadable application retrieves three additional links for every result you choose, and nests subsequent refinements up to three levels deep.

"Surf Canyon Launches Discovery Engine for Search"

"As the volume of content on the internet expands exponentially, so has the challenge of sifting through mountains of search results in order to pinpoint the most relevant. By using Surf Canyon’s semantic real-time implicit personalization technology while searching on Google, Yahoo! or MSN, searchers are able to more quickly and easily find relevant information buried within the usually overwhelming quantity of results. Rather than leaving users to manually filter through static sets of links, this innovative application uses real-time behavior signals to calculate “instantaneous relevancies” within a result set in order to dynamically pull forward the most pertinent results while pushing back those less germane. The technology is similarly suited for targeting sponsored links, benefiting both users and advertisers.

    Am trying it-but so faro_O.
Searched for Surf Canyon(to do with technology) and I got 3 surfing locations.
Be nice if a short Help sentence could be included so sense could be made of it.
    TIP; press the bulls eyes.
Also seemed to stuff up the mouse scrolling in Google.

Just installed in Internet Explorer 6 on Win XP Pro.

No mouse problems here in Windows Live, Google or Yahoo. However the filter created by SurfCanyon when I click a bullseye associated with a link of interest genereates inconsistent results.

Back to adding another string in my original search term.
