I've tried the Vista product......twice and both times un-installed after a few hours.

Not sure about the XP one but the Vista Firewall Control is basically a front end to allow more cotrol over the Vista Firewall. Well, the free version is anyway.

Interface is awful, looks decades old and it was awkward to add rules in manually. Sometimes it just blocked programs and never gave you the option to choose.

Not impressed and nave preferred the Vista + router firewall option with no 3rd party firewall.

Appreciate the feedback. By your comments I`ll guess it includes outbound control.....when it works.

Yep, inbound and outbound were both configurable separately. The outbound control was what I was looking for.

Exactly the same reason I was interested, plus 64 bit compatibility. I am setting behind a router as well.
