I am getting tired of the support or lack of support with KIS. The first thing they blame broken updates or programs on is Malwarebytes and demand you to remove it even when it's only running when I actively scan. Second when they do break a feature they take a long time to fix.

For example system watcher slows PC down severely for batch file operations like clear all logs.bat. They admitted it was a problem and would work on it.. 3 months later no fix and no more word on the issue so I could not use System Watcher at all. They don't fix bugs.

The other time was where it would eat up 85-99% of system resources and they took weeks to bring out an update fix for it! In the meantime I had to disable KIS completely to use my system.

I have not been really happy with KIS since the removed there modular setup and it installs all the other garbage like parental control, anti-spam, anti-phishing all useless to me. And the lack of them fixing there features like System Watcher has made me not really want to purchase them again.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

The problem is the features I really use I can't seem to find in other security software.

    1. Easy pausing of protection and blocking of network

    2. Safe Money type feature transparent like KIS BitDefenders sucks it's blocks everything on screen and opens in it's own browser type ugly window.

    3. Firewall that will monitor and only block known malware, virus, hacking attempts but not block other applications as I use DLNA servers and Remote Client software. Easily configurable firewall so when I do add an application I want blocked it is easy to add.

    4. Exclude files or folders from being scanned (selectable actions too like do not scan child processes, do not scan network, ect)

    5. Prompt if suspicious I don't like my software to be doing stuff on it's own unless 100% sure it's malware.

    6. Exclusion of objects to detect like multi-packed files'

    7. Not a heavy footprint on memory and resources

Tried eSET but Firewall was a nightmare it was blocking everything could not even use DLNA without adding each specific app to the firewall. I don't like dumb firewalls.

Tried BitDefender and when I disable the feature like anti-phishing I don't need a waste of it checking URL I am browsing it would always show in red as needing fixed was not able to disable it's notification at all. Also it detected a process I have run as a trojan and blocked it without prompting me at all on what to do.

Tried Vipre this one gave no scan types or exclusions that I could figure out.

Is there any alternatives that have the above features or am I stuck with the horrible support from Kaspersky as they appear to be the only game in town with the features I need.

Try Bitdefender or F-Secure!!! They might not have the same features, but they are far better than KIS!!!

I agree to try BitDefender but they aren't better than KIS.

Also try Norton if you want a bugfree light AV.

Just to let you know, there's an upcoming patch (probably this week) which should fix your problems with KIS.

Maybe try Bullguard as I believe it uses Outpost firewall so it may be different than Bitdefender IS. Also, maybe try Emsi as it should be Bitdefender and Online Armor firewall. Gdata recently released a new version IIRC, so maybe give it a look although I have no idea about the firewall component.

I think DACS will never arrive.
We are going to get Valkyrie instead.

And though repeating myself quite a few times, Valkyrie is amazing with rare/few FPs.

The rants came from some people from other forums and even some people on CIS forums were talking about it somewhere but I see the problem with the way they assumed this :)

I admit that I am in the "slow group," but I tried Bit Defender yesterday for awhile, and I could not determine how to use their version of Safe Mode. I removed it and returned to Avast.

So as my sig I am able to use those versions of Safe Money and Safe Mode.

This thread seems to have fallen into a comodo whirlpool of conjecture and hear, say.

I have used kaspersky myself and found it an excellent product.
As for anything that resembles it.?,Thats a tough one.
my choice would be either norton or possibly bitdefender.

Molitar, you have too high criteria.

To make it simpler, you'd better concentrate on separate products - AV + other things. This way it would be easier, I believe.

Currently a lot of the major vendors are having issues playing nice with Malwarebytes. You may not find a solution that does. There is a huge thread on the Norton forums on that very subject.

All vendors have to be very careful of rushing bug fixes. Have you reported it directly to support? Posting it on the forums will not get it done.

This one is an odd problem that has been ongoing, but is probably hard to fix since not everyone has it. I have never experienced it. I suspect a conflict with other software.

Many have not been happy with the lack of install choices, but you can disable the modules you do not want to use.

If you set it to learning mode after install it will run that way for 2 weeks, and will auto create most of the rules you will ever need.

It is hard to find a single product with the same feature set, and all vendors seem to have their issues. Ultimately you have to test as many as you are willing to test and live with the shortcomings of the choice you made. I have honestly spent the last 3 years switching between Kaspersky, Norton, and ESET, never really being 100% happy with any of them. They all need to refocus their development with the priority being on providing the best security with a decent UI, making a STABLE product, and not worrying about changing the whole thing every year when most of them are selling on a subscription model anyway.

Agreed with xxJackxx. IMO, if you are not visiting dangerous sites (porn, for example), then a single Internet Security Suite is enough. I installed Malwarebytes for a long time but it never catches anything other than a few false positives. KIS, F-Secure IS, BD IS are all good ones to try out.

Agreed, all good suites. If you are doing risky browsing something like Sandboxie is probably more useful than Malwarebytes without the conflicts.

Well looks like for my needs KIS is the only game in town.. Kind of like FIOS the best damn service the worst support.

First lie when I asked if the software can do in the chat before installing

    1. Comodo has no mode to filter only and not act as a firewall just monitor for malicious activity.

    2. Software does not auto put you in sandbox mode when going to secure financial sites instead have to open up a special browser.

    3. Prompt only not quarantine automatically yet the very first thing it started quarantine applications that are multi packed.

So Comodo is out I am stuck with the only game in town for my friends, family, and clients who do not want complicated non-transparent software. The Firewall was annoying my Manga Downloader it would ask for permission for it to do anything even when I said allow.. Disk Access? Network Access? and more.. damn annoying non-transparent Firewall. The one thing I like about KIS is that the firewall is almost like not having a firewall it just filters and blocks known malicious.

Now on Kaspersky did I file a bug report about the system monitor? Yes I did. there answer to me.

    to me
    Hello Marvin,

Thank you for all the information, the issue was reproduced by our experts. A bug entry was created for this issue and they are working with our developer to have it fixed. Once the fix is implemented it should be pushed as a regular update.

To this day it still does not work..

    Here is what i reported.

es it is not working. I added this file to both trusted and exclusion and it is not excluding because it takes 1 minute 25 seconds to complete. I turn off KIS protection it takes 9 seconds! If KIS is slowing down a simple process like this how much is it slowing everything down in my system so I am not seeing the use of my SSD HDD?

    C:\Users\malaac\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\Clear All Logs.bat

It's a batch file that clears all the event logs in Windows 7. Runs the code below...

    CODE
    @echo off
    FOR /F "tokens=1,2*" %%V IN ('bcdedit') DO SET adminTest=%%V
    IF (%adminTest%)==(Access) goto noAdmin
    for /F "tokens=*" %%G in ('wevtutil.exe el') DO (call :do_clear "%%G")
    echo.
    echo goto theEnd
    :do_clear
    echo clearing %1
    wevtutil.exe cl %1
    goto :eof
    :noAdmin
    exit

There support is useless so I just finally disabled system watcher completely and used it as it had a transparent firewall and the safe money is transparent in it's use.. go to a bank site and it auto opens up a sandbox browser environment to login.

I have tried this but no luck when it comes to firewall protection.. Seems no firewall or other security software has a protection like this.. Anyone here remember BlackICE? I guess that is more what KIS firewall works like as an option and is more what I am looking for.
