    Hi Howard,

Depends what you mean by "original condition" :p. They both have the same functionality, namely, they create a "standard" Windows MBR. However, neither can restore a manufacturer's special multi-boot MBR if it got overwritten by, say, activating the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager.

    Regards

I see and I guess the one from Acronis would be similar?

    Hello zoril,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please note that as Menorcaman said in both cases (using "fixmbr" of Windows XP Recovery Console or using floppy drive/CD with special utilities) your old MBR will be rewritten with the new MBR.

Please note that this utilities made for those who do not have access to Windows Recovery CD and need to repair MBR.

    Thank you.
