    Hi,

I ask myself since some time the question:
The web scanner in antivirus software is really needed?

I use G Data Antivirus 2008 (and I am happy with it) - the web scanner run as a proxy.

When we browse a web page, the files (in the cache) will be checked by the antivirus.
For antivirus with “web scanner”, it’s the same things but with a specific directory (maybe sandbox technique?).

I wonder if web scanner brings more problems rather than utility (incompatibility with some security programs or download manager, access time on web pages increased, etc) ??
