I really don't think my location would have an impact on my choice of antivirus software. Local threats could be handled better, maybe, but I can't see that being a major factor in anything.

Possibly being in a country other than America could show a greater reward for using a local vendor.

Or maybe if it drilled down to even smaller zones, like states? o_O :p

yes i think so. I am also responsible for our "my.mailwall" (our E-Mail Antispam and Antivirus scanning solution). There are many localized phishing, spam or trojan attacks (we scan about 12 million mails a day). The attackers are looking definitely for "customizers" in austria, so i think a "localized solution" maybe can better react on "localized" attacks. (and maybe, if the local solution is so bad, like:finds nothing or to slow, or what else, you always have the choice to choose another one :)

its took 54 replies to a thread to get this kind of answer, you seem to agree then.

sadly im limited to sophos for my local av, lol

however, got prevx 2.0 installed which is english :)

edit: not all of them, Fortinet found 53 viruses on my clean drweb system *lol*

Yes. We observe the evolution of the maleware every day anew, and the trend is increasingly in targeted attacks. Be it through targeted spam attacks or targeted Trojans that only certain Netbanking customers of a particular bank.

The large spam attacks will never cease, but the targeted attacks are more dangerous in my opinion.
